MEET NANCY BECKER
I’m Nancy Becker, a psychotherapist and clinical social worker on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I’ve been in private practice since 1985, with a Master’s Degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, in the clinical track. I also earned a certificate from the Institute for Developmental Psychotherapy.
My approach as a therapist
I treat children 10 and older, adolescents, and individuals up through older adults with a large range of emotional and life issues. I offer anxiety treatment; depression treatment; marriage and couples counseling; counseling about miscarriage, infertility, and adoption; family counseling; parenting counseling; counseling about your concerns about your teen; job and work support; counseling for women in business; and substance misuse disorder treatment. I foster a warm environment, so that we can form the trusting relationship that allows the exploration of your past. This way we can uncover the helpful and not-so-helpful factors from your past that are at work in your life today.
Treatment in person, by Skype, and by phone
Active listening, compassion, and a warm sense of humor allow patients to make a comfortable connection. That connection is valuable for in-person sessions, as well as for Skype and phone sessions. Many patients live in the tri-state area, and some are scattered throughout the world. I look forward to working with you.
I’ve run onsite groups for corporate clients, organized workshops for companies and community groups, and given talks on a variety of issues. I was a consultant to addiction treatment facilities and aftercare specialist for two leading treatment centers.
I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about my approach and how my experience can help you. You may use the contact form or call me at 332-215-0367. I look forward to hearing from you and starting the process of helping you make a satisfying life.
